Who we are and why do we do this
The Torture Watch consists of patriotic persons volunteering their time and resources to collect information on incidents of torture, analyze it and publish verified information on torture in our country.
We do not have personal agendas except to see that human rights are respected and torture is punished regardless of the political circumstances we see ourselves in. Impunity for torture must not be tolerated if we are to build a better world.
Some may criticise the decision to remain anonymous, but those facing the realities of life at the moment will understand our reasons. We need to maintain anonymity to enable our group to continue functioning as human rights monitors. This also affords protection to people who provide us with information since they do not know who we are.
However, you can be rest assured that we are guided by our personal principles and morals as well as standards of human rights and international law.
