TRADE UNIONIST REPORTS BEATINGS AND TORTURE BY MILITARY

Torture Watch has received confirmation that Fiji Trade Union Congress National Secretary Felix Anthony has lodged a report with the Fiji Police regarding the beatings and torture he received by military thugs in February and April 2011.

Anthony was picked up on two occasions by military thugs IN 2011. On the first occasion he was threatened with death and he was also told that his family would suffer the same fate. On the second occasion, April 2011 he was beaten and tortured by military thugs.

The interesting point to note is that on this second occasion, he was first sworn at and threatened to be killed by none other then the illegal Prime Minister Bainimarama.  Within minutes after the departure of the illegal Prime Minister, Anthony was beaten and tortured by military thugs at one location.  Hours later he was moved to another location where he was beaten and tortured again by about 5 military thugs over a period of hours.

Is the Police truly independent in Fiji?  This matter is a test case for all to see.  Are we going to witness the illegal Prime Minister being arrested and charged for threatening to kill a Fijian?  Are we going to witness the arrest and charging of about 7 military thugs for threatening and beating a Fijian?

This could be a difficult possibility at the moment but remember JUSTICE will prevail!

Good move and this will prove to the world and fiji how independent the Fiji police are, we all know that the police are puppets of the regime...prove me wrong.

It is interesting to see where this will go, I agree that it needs highlighting. I am also interested in the sentence that will be handed down tomorrow for Mr. Qarase.

As for the comment above - there is no need to be abusive....if you applaud him for what he's standing for then that is good...but why put down SDL and the Methodist Church? Its a petty comment and gets us nowhere...I happen to be Methodist and don't appreciate that comment...all very well to comment anonymously....but if you have any conviction behind what you say you won't hide your name.
