         HYPOCRISY REIGNS SUPREME

This story confirms the level of hypocrisy within the power players and also proves that hypocrisy reigns supreme with the illegal government of the day in Fiji.  THE High Court has granted leave to the Illegal Attorney General to initiate contempt proceedings against The Fiji Times.

This was revealed in a government statement which referenced an article published by the newspaper earlier this month as the basis for the proceedings.  The article - headlined "FIFA probes Doc" - appeared in the Monday, November 7, 2011, edition of The Fiji Times.

Confirming that hypocrisy reigns supreme the illegal A-G said "It is my responsibility to protect the independence of the courts, as the Fijian Government adheres to the separation of powers, and promotes - in principle and in practice - the independence of the judiciary. This ensures inter alia that the law is applied to all persons equally".

What nonsense! We draw attention to our Torture Report dated 13 November 2011: TORTURE REPORT: FURTHER TORTURE OF FIJIANS BY THE REGIME where we had highlighted the fate of two Fijian citizens who were tortured, beaten and  threatened.

Were these two men treated equally under the law? Why did the illegal A-G not step out to protect the basic human rights of the two victims?  A person who openly states that "it is my responsibility to protect the independence of the courts" but conveniently forgets to protect citizens of this country who are tortured, beaten, harassed, intimidated and threatened by thug's in uniform who are funded by tax payer's.

Hypocrisy surely reigns supreme in Fiji
