THE BALLOT WILL PROVE STRONGER THEN THE BULLET

CITIZENS
IN THE
DARK ABOUT ELECTIONS: REGIME CONTINUE WITH LIES

More lies from the Ministry of MisInformation.  Press release reads that the regime has 'accepted an offer from the United Nations to send a Needs Assessment Mission (NAM) to Fiji ahead of the planned Parliamentary elections'.  It must be noted that the the citizens are in the dark about the proposed elections.  All everyone knows is that elections are scheduled for 2014.  Otherwise no one apart from regime insiders know anything about this proposed election in 2014.

Once again the Illegal Attorney-General was blowing himself or more so his flat and out of tune trumpet by stipulating 'that the composition of the mission must be politically neutral and unbiased with regard to Fiji, so it can provide an objective technical needs assessment for Fiji to conduct free and fair elections'.

Torture Watch consulted a legal expert on this matter and this person thinks otherwise and stated: "How and why is this mission even coming to Fiji at this stage is baffling?  We do not have a constitution in place to begin with and do not know what system or form of government will run Fiji after the elections.".

The legal expert further stated that:
"Fiji needs a constitution in place firstly so that we all know what system of        government will run the country including how many houses of parliament         will be in place.  Will there be a lower and upper house as under previous             constitutions or just a lower like under the New Zealand model? With a                constitution in place we will also know how many seats will be available in         parliament.  Currently we have no idea about the number of seats up for            grabs in the next elections.  With the number of seats known, we will then         be able to determine and draw the boundaries. After all this has been                     determined, then only will the Elections Office be best placed to discuss              Fiji's needs such as ballot boxes, staffing and logistical preparation"

Once again, who exactly is the regime fooling?  Just by telling the people of Fiji that a UN team is heading to Fiji does not mean that preparations for elections is on target.  At the moment, everything is in chaos as pointed out above.  The ballot will prove stronger then the bullet in Fiji as will be witnessed in due time.

So far it plainly is a deception campaign by the regime to show the public that they are doing something about the elections.  It is only regime lies!
